Are you facing unexpected disruptions to life as you thought it would be? Life as you thought it should be? When real life happens – not life as we planned it but life as it played out – we have to be willing to let go of those expectations and embrace what is.
The twists and turns are harrowing, and in the stress of those moments, it is all too easy to feel alone…to feel like the parade moved on down main street without you, and you, alone, are lost on the side streets.
But I promise you, if you are facing one of those moments, you are not alone. We all have these moments, and we will all have these moments again. We are all in this together, all of the time.
In the moments of unexpected loss and disruption, I want you to have these three nuggets in your pocket:
Be your own judgment-free zone. No “shoulding” on yourself right now. It turns out there actually are no “shoulds”– there’s just what is.
We are all human, and therefore we are all facing the unexpected. You are not alone. Make a list of everyone who loves you, everyone who has shown up with even the smallest token or gesture of support. They are the wave that will carry you through. They are your parade.
Let yourself feel the grief. We expend a lot of energy trying to avoid grief by resisting change. But your vibrant life exists on the other side of the unexpected change you are facing. Trust that you will survive the grief, and let the flow happen.
May you find peace and joy in the life that is~
