I’ve been a devoted student of relationship dynamics ever since I was a child falling asleep listening to radio talk shows of the Frasier variety, and there are still few things that draw my curiosity and attention to the same degree.
As a clinician for over twenty years now, my work with individuals and my work with couples have become inextricably intertwined:
We do not grow in a vacuum – we develop into our most vibrant, authentic selves in the context of vibrant, authentic relationships.
My couples work involves bringing the invisible dynamics to light. It’s the invisible, persistent, energetic and emotional effect we have on each other that defines how it feels to be in relationship together, yet couples therapy often stops short of this depth to focus instead on communication and behaviors. I have found that this deep and transformative work is best done in larger chunks of time than typical therapy. So, for couples who are ready to create change, I offer:
2-hour intensives
1-day intensives
Multi-day intensives
Many couples who I see come into the work wondering how to keep their connection alive for the long haul. Rather than falling into patterns of repetition or stagnation, they crave partnerships that continue to feel alive.
In my latest article published in Psychology Today, I talk about how once we move beyond the chemistry of early love, it becomes an active decision to keep love alive. Check out my article to get the foundational information you need to make this choice:
In the next article in this series I will be busting myths that get in our way and sharing concrete tips and tricks you can use, hot off the couples therapy couch.
